Professor of School of Environmental Science and Engineering, Hebei University of Science and Technology, Deputy Leader of Hebei Provincial Air Pollution Prevention Expert Advisory Committee, President of Hebei City Appearance and Environmental Sanitation Association, Vice President of Hebei Environmental Science Association, Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei and Surrounding Area Air Pollution Prevention and Control Expert Group Expert, Director of the National and Local Joint Engineering Center for the Prevention and Control of Volatile Organic Compounds and Odor Pollution, and Director of the Hebei Provincial Air Pollution Prevention and Control Technology Research and Promotion Center.

Guo has long been engaged in the teaching and scientific research of disciplines related to environmental engineering and is the main academic leader of some provincial key disciplines. His main research interests are air pollution control engineering, waste treatment and resource utilization, cleaner production and environmentally bio-friendly materials. Guo presided over the construction of the National and Local Joint Engineering Center for the Prevention and Control of Volatile Organic Compounds and Odor Pollution, and the Hebei Province Air Pollution Prevention and Control Technology Research and Promotion Center. Many of his projects have achieved excellent economic, environmental and social benefits.

Guo has won 3 second prizes of Science and Technology Progress Award of Hebei Province, 1 second prize of Provincial Social Science Outstanding Achievement Award, and 7 provincial and ministerial third prizes. Guo formulated 11 national industry standards and local standards; obtained 2 international patents and 23 invention patents of the People's Republic of China. In recent years, Guo has published more than 100 papers in Chinese and foreign journals and academic conferences, and published 6 textbooks and monographs, which sees a considerable influence in the industry.
