Graduating from Nankai University with both bachelor and master's degree in biochemistry and a doctor degree in microbiology of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Zhang Hua is committed to the research of new drugs from Satoshi ōmura who is the well-known Japanese pharmacist and 2015Nobel Prize winner. Zhang has been the director of New Drug R&D Center of North China Pharmaceutical Group, the Chairman of Shanghai Biomabs Co., Ltd., and the Chairman of Shanghai Hegno Co., Ltd. Zhang once served as the editorial board member of Chinese Journal of Antibiotics and Chinese Medicinal Biotechnology, as well as the visiting professor at the Institute of Microbiology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Wuhan University, Hebei Medical University and other domestic universities.

Zhang Hua is committed to the new drug research and development, production and operation management for a long time. Zhang has successively presided over more than 10 national major new drug development projects, 863/973 projects and major special projects. With his leadership, his team discovers nearly 200 active compounds with new structures from microorganisms for the first time in the world and promotes the research and development of more than 20 new drugs and new products, many of which filled the gaps in China. Zhang publishes more than 60 papers (more than 20 SCI papers), participates in the preparation and publication of 5 monographs, and applies for more than 10 patents. Zhang presides over the development of more than 10 new products and wins the first prize of provincial natural science award and provincial pharmaceutical science and technology progress award.
